I hadn't used my printer for a while and when I did it said I needed to replace the yellow cartridge, I did, just like I have in the past. After the installation process was complete an error code 0x97 appeared.
I tried the powering down and up steps, removing the cartridge step and also cleaning the printer heads. All this did nothing. I then decided to look for my receipt and lo and behold the warranty expired 3 days ago. The printer I now have was a new one I received when the original was taken in for guess what, error code 0x97.
That happened two years after the original purchase and this one failed also after two years receiving the replacement.
If I get another I will happily take it, if not, I will probably go with HP. My lady friend has a HP and that has been working relatively trouble free for almost nine years.
