Recently, my printer continually had messages telling me to download a software "update". I finally did that.
After the download, the printer stopped working altogether, with a messaage "Ink cartridge is not recognized". Curiously, 2 were recognized and 3 were not. These cartridges were purchased from competitors to Epson.
After several hours on the phone with Epson's technical support, they determined that I should buy all original Epson ink ($80, which is more than the printer cost) and then if it still didn't work, to call them back. I was very astonished by this advice and asked to speak to a manager.
She said that she could not transfer my call. Really?
No managers at Epson customer service call centers?
My printer worked perfectly fine before the "update". DON'T BUY EPSON, THEY TRAP YOU INTO BUYING THEIR OVERPRICED INK!
