Customer service for support couldn’t be any worse.
I phoned customer service to inquire about why the ink would not go into the tanks of my printer. The person I spoke to never seemed to understand what I was asking about.
She finally said to send them pictures and gave me a case number. The email she sent me to send the pictures said if the issue isnt resolved in 45 days to contact them again??? How me sending pictures is supposed to resolve the issue is beyond me! So I phoned back and got the same person unfortunately and this time she said the printer had failed and I needed a new one.
She obviously has no understanding of the issues with printers and the frustrating part is there is nowhere to complain to Epson. They obviously dont care that their customer support is unbelievably bad!
At least I got a little satisfaction of complaining here, but Epson will never see it so I dont anticipate any improvement.
After firmware update, cartridges not recognized
I Installed a firmware update, and now the printer can no longer "recognize" my print cartridges which had been working fine until the update. Word on the Internet is that Epson deliberately tries to punish people who buy replacement cartridges from other vendors, so they can sell their overpriced ones, and they do that by updating the firmware so that other vendor cartridges are "not recognized".
This is despicable. I will never buy another Epson product. They have even spawned a cottage industry that for $5 sells a firmware downgrade.
It is cheaper to buy a new printer than to buy Epson replacement cartridges. Their business practices are predatory and should be illegal.

Verified ReviewerTerrible quality and customer service
HORRIBLE customer service and warranty policies. They will do anything possible to not honor their warranty.
Spent $900 on the ET 8550 and after only 3 months and less than 400 pages printed the yellow is printing black. Had 4 phone calls with the "customer service" which was a complete joke. They kept asking me for photographs of certain areas of the printer which I sent. They kept saying they did not get the emails.
(Not the first time they pulled this trick on me) They said after 1 hr on the phone they would call me back in 1 hour. They called around 12 hours later at 6am waking me up. Spent another hour with another guy who also gave the runaround. They said they would call again later, they did asking for the same photos I had sent them 8 times already.
Again he kept saying he didn't get them. Who doesn't get their emails???!! Finally he said he did receive the email but now it was after business hours and he could not do anything after hours? The whole thing is a ploy to frustrate you into hanging up.
Finally they called the next morning saying they couldn't honor the warranty because I used other ink, which is complete BS I had only used the exact ink that came with this printer, I never even ran through the ink to buy more that's how quickly this piece of crap went down. So I'm out $900 now and this is the last Epson I ever purchase.

I have an open ticket with your support people.231023-****21 ticket #. I cannot hear or understand anything they said.
They are suppose to replace my printer ET 2803. Its still under warranty. I think they said I had to give them my debit card for them to hold , until I receive new printer and you all receive my old one. Im not sure but, I need someone to help me with this and I need to be able to hear them .
I have hearing problems and I need assistance .. Thank you Lorinda Varnum. So,even though I came on here and wrote my message , they never contacted me back. This is stupidest experience Ive ever have had in my life,as far as terrible product and terrible customer service and support.I ve only had this printer since April 2023 .yes!
Only 6 months . I only printed 450 pages , when a error message came on saying my ink pads need servicing, well I had never heard of this with any printer Ive ever own and I have had some really cheap one. This wasnt that cheap at 199.99 at least not for me. I had had this printer in my wish list for over a year before I finally broke down and bought one.
So anyways, when started reading what that error code meant,it said it means my printer is at the end of its life,so basically it died.. so I called and I was transfered to a sweet but forgiven woman ( dont mean anything by it) but I didnt understand her she didnt understand me and we both got frustrated. I called back 3 times and was sent to her all 3 times. When she said she needed my debit card number to put the 199.99 on hold on it until they received this one back, that they would then send me a new one.why do they need my debit card if they dont send me a new one until they receive this one backwth kind of service is that?
So after about 5 days of no help, I came in here with my message.
Epson received it and has never contacted me at all.I need my printer, they need to fix this now!! As much as I love the ink tank idea,I will never ,ever, ever buy another Epson.which is really sad because the idea of this printer is amazing but if the company doesnt care about their customers , I would rather pay more and buy a HP, at this pointDO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT a unless you have disposable money

Verified Buyer |I purchased an Epsom ET 2803 Printer from Amazon. It is 6 months old and stopped printing
My Epsom Printer has stopped printing. It failed after 6 months.
I called Epsom, and they will not help since it was purchased on Amazon, although they said by the codes that the mother-board was fried. I called Amazon, and they said I had to contact the company who sold it to me. The company said that they only had a 30-day warranty. On the Amazon site, Epson said there is a 2-year warranty.
Buyer Beware! You will not get any help from Epson, who will NOT honor their warranty, nor will you get any help from Amazon or companies who sell products on Amazon. I will be out several hundred dollars. I will never purchase an Epson product again, nor will I ever purchase an electronic product from Amazon.
Everyone passed the buck. I have taken good care of this printer and I still am using the original ink that came with it.
You would be better off buying an HP or other dependable product. Again BUYER BEWARE
User's recommendation: Buyer Beware! Purchase another Product that is not Epson.

Verified ReviewerPrinter sucks
after spending countless hours trying to get my printer to work correctly I called you for the second time after trouble shooting for you, you did not get back with me in 48hrs like the agent said you would. I now have 2 claim numbers and why???the numbers are 240129-****45 and 240118****88 maybe you could do your work and look at them and come up with a better solution than keeping me on the phone for hours trouble shooting for you again.
the person on the phone started another claim with I don't understand why you couldn't use the data I gave you on the last hour phone call.
after spending at least a hour and a half again on the phone with you I gave up. I was offered a refurbished machine. since I couldn't spend another hour on the phone with you. why would I want a refurbished printer its probably got the same problems mine does.
I would say you have a large flaw in your product and don't want to replace them which is why you are wearing your clients down until they give up. I am so unhappy and plan on blasting your company on media to tell people what a *** product you have.

Verified Reviewer |Junk electronics.
I bought an Epson because Canon customer service screwed me over. I purchased this ET-2803 because it does not use cartridges but bottled ink instead.
When I unboxed it there was a message inside saying "congratulations, we have upgraded this printer and you are receiving the new and improved version". Wewll, I am a retired 4 color offset lithographer, a 4 color printer by trade and I never would have imagined how low printing technology would revert since I retired, but now I know. This thing thy call a printer is a pile of Chinese electronic components that add up to a blinking, burping, squealing disaster in a plastic box. The instructions were written by either a moron or someone who has never even seen this contraption.
I was able to get it connected to my network and my MacBook by my own wits, not by the information that came with nit or that is on their website. Of course, they keep bankers hours although I assume thy have customer service the equal of Canon, which is non existant. The thing can run it's maintenance program flawlessly, feed the paper and print fine in that mode, but when you try to actually print a document it makes more noise than a NASA rocket launch and after about 5 minutes of fireworks, gives you a paper jam message when there is no paper jammed. As I said, it feeds and prints from the maintenance queue just fine.
As a senior citizen who remembers the days of vacuum tubes and still works with that type of equipment, and that kind of quality, I am ashamed of what has become of technology and the quality of products today and the "don't give a crap" customer service that companies like Epson...and Canon...provide, or foist on the public. Shame on them for putting the designation of PRINTER on their junk!

Verified ReviewerRotten Customer Service.
I ecently purchased a printer from Epson for future use. When I needed it I opened the box to find a note right on top telling me that my printer which I had purchased had been upgraded to a "new and improved" model, so that was a "nice surprise", that is until I tried to use it.
All it will do is give me a screen message that there is a paper jam. There is NO paper jam or anything at all of a foreign nature in the printer. I bought Epson brand ink to use in it. There customer service had me run a maintenance program on it which I had already performed and when that did not work they inferre that I wasn't using their ink.
When I told them that I was, they told me that I would have to PAY to ship it back and PAY for service.
They SUCK as a company and sell JUNK., They are the WORST KIND OF RIP OFF. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on an EPSON!BUY ANOTHER

Problem setting up Photo Scanner
Epson service could not be worse! Talked to several different service reps.
They were impossible to understand. They could not speak nor understand Englis. It was clear they had absolutely no knowledge of the products. I think they were simply trying to understand enough to type what they thought was the question and then get some type of canned answer.
If you asked a question, they simply went back to the canned answer. Absolutely no ability to understand the problem.
Impossible to get the call escalated to a specialist or supervisor. It's really a shame because I like their scanning products.
User's recommendation: Don't buy their products if you expect any type of service!

That appears to be my experience as well! I will no longer purchase another Epson. AND I will tell others!
Epson is a horrible product backed by a useless company support team. You cannot call them.
You have to email them to discuss the problem with my 3 month old printer that only prints in yellow now. After repeated useless emails from a so called support team telling me I need to replace all my ink cartridges, which still did not correct problem, They tell me to call them. Excuse me but That was the first thing I tried and it told me I had to email support team. Wow!!
How professional are these people that they do not even know what is going on in there own support network.
Nothing has ever been resolved from this mess. Very unsatisfied with Epson product and company and their useless support or warranty!
I just updated the firmware on an epson WF-2850 it now tells me 3 of 4 cartridges are empty after i just them in. i guess I'm going to pull out the HP and get some cartridges for it this epson all in one is junk
This just happened to me. I just updated and now my Epson XP5100 will not read the black cartridge.
All are refilled.
I don't print that much, I only bought this about 6 months ago. I'm going to Walmart and by a $40.00 Canon.
You can find instructions online (including some on Youtube and some much further down this thread) that tell you how to uninstall the new firmware and reinstall the old firmware. I did that a few years ago and haven't had any problems since. Just make sure to disenable automatic updates so you don't encounter the same problem again.
Boycott Epson . Their software updates refuse to accept non epson cartridges.
This is illegal.
their cartridges are massively overpriced. Dont touch with a bargepole.
I totally agree--This happened to me this past week. I am done with Epson.
Have spent 8 hours trying to fix it XP-440 as they told me to place a new Firmware update... and poof now the ink catridges that have been working for 2 years no longer works///
You need to find an older version of the Firmware and go back to that. You can find videos on youtube that tell you how to do it.
I did that several years ago and haven't had a problem since.
Circumventing Epson's efforts to force me to buy their ink cartridges was very satisfying. Never update your Firmware, no matter what Epson tells you.
