Verified ReviewerComplaint about Epson customer Service -unprofessional
Beware! This ET 4850 all-in-one printer has been defective since about 4 months from purchase.
I bought new, and initially, support was able to fix issues until 8 months from purchase when it stopped printing. It would spit out a blank page, and you couldn't scan. Any paper in the feeder would cause the documents to jam. What a headache!
I thought I was in manufacturer warranty at 8 months; they did all further testing and deemed the unit defective. Here I thought I would get a new replacement since I purchased new, but Epson said they would replace it with a refurbished one and not new! I didn't agree with this policy because I purchased new, and I wanted new. I spoke to numerous people in customer service; I even asked could I get credit towards a different printer, but the answer was no!
I spoke to an agent, then a supervisor named Kim, then I requested the one above the supervisor, that would be a rude customer relations representative at corporate no less, named Carrie M at 562-276-****. What an unprofessional work of art, horrible employee! She started to read part of the warranty that said they would replace it with refurbished, and when she read info I didn't understand, I would ask her can she explain, and she said, 'I'm not an attorney.' 'Will you let me finish reading this?' Like I said, an absolute worthless employee! No one can do anything except send a refurbished printer and get worthless customer service!
I expected more from Epson! I hope Shaquille O'Neal and the entire Epson board hears about this and the so many customers disgusted with Epson!
- With this issue- no pros
- Shade practices with defective products and warranty
Preferred solution: Replace my cost of the new defective printer for an upgraded -different all in one printer and I will pay the difference, OR SEND ME A NEW PRINTER AS I BOUGHT NEW NOT REFERBISHED
User's recommendation: BEWARE of their shade warranty practices!
After firmware update, cartridges not recognized
I Installed a firmware update, and now the printer can no longer "recognize" my print cartridges which had been working fine until the update. Word on the Internet is that Epson deliberately tries to punish people who buy replacement cartridges from other vendors, so they can sell their overpriced ones, and they do that by updating the firmware so that other vendor cartridges are "not recognized".
This is despicable. I will never buy another Epson product. They have even spawned a cottage industry that for $5 sells a firmware downgrade.
It is cheaper to buy a new printer than to buy Epson replacement cartridges. Their business practices are predatory and should be illegal.

*****DO NOT BUY EPSON PRINTERS...READ THIS FIRST***** I have been a long-time user of Epson printers, but I am extremely disappointed with the company's decision to block aftermarket ink cartridges through firmware updates. This tactic feels deceptive and unfair, as it forces loyal customers like myself to purchase Epson's overpriced ink.
Printers are expensive enough, and this approach adds unnecessary financial burden.
I believe customers should have the freedom to choose affordable alternatives without being penalized by restrictive firmware. This move shows a lack of care for customer satisfaction and loyalty. I hope Epson reconsiders this practice and prioritizes the needs of its users over profit. Until then, I cannot recommend Epson products to others.

WF2950 printer stuck in Recovery mode
Printer stuck in Recovery Mode and won't let me reset or do anything.
I wish that I would have bought another Canon Printer instead of trying an Epson Printer.
My advice is buyer Beware of Epson and buy any other brand of Printer.

Verified Reviewer |Worst printer ever known to man
You make the worst printer known to man! I have emailed weekly, I also call weekly, and guess what, zero response, or answer.
Told not to use the top tray to scan or copy, so why is it there? Yeah, just to make it not work.
On average I spend an hour dicking with this *** printer.
Printer ink will not refill
Trying to refill the printer and the ink will not go in nobody has tried to contact me in reference to this after I tried to contact them
User's recommendation: Buy anything but an epson

Verified ReviewerFrustrated old technology
Computer is fine. Printer says it's connected to the network, but when printing it says the printer is in an error status.
I've spent almost 2 hours trying to figure this out. Updated firmware, tried everything. Horrible interface. Hard to understand.
This has been my experience with multiple Epson models. The layout of the buttons and interface is never easy to use. Common sense won't get you very far with one of these printers. It's time for Epson to get on board with where technology should be in 2025.
It should not be hard to buy a printer, hook it to your computer, and print or scan a document. And enough with the firmware updates; give us a product that is good when we buy it and never has to be changed. Like, what in the world are we doing? Definitely getting my mom a newer, easier-to-use printer and smashing this one into a million pieces.
Will never, ever buy Epson. And if I could rate it zero stars, I would.
- Absolutely everything
Preferred solution: Nothing. I just want Epson to make a good printer that a 60 to 70-year-old person would be able to connect to a computer with ease.

Verified ReviewerEpson, worst printer, scanner ever
I needed to scan 20 pages; it took nine minutes. Why?
Oh, that's right, you have to do them by hand since the tray doesn't work at all. Or it does, but then it eats your paper.
Printing two pages, you will get 10 extra sheets that you can't reuse because the printer eats the bottom of them. I waste so much paper, time, and patience on this horrible product.
Epson has never responded. Good job, Epson.
- No pros
- All cons
Preferred solution: zero, I don't trust anything by Epson at this point, they can keep their money, product all of their crap.
User's recommendation: Don't buy Epson

My computer has completely crashed. I called support to get Epson connection to my phone.
They insisted on taking control of my computer. Now I have a white screen, no printer and I'm pissed.
Still no answer from Epson and no techs will help

Verified ReviewerTerrible customer service
I spent $80 on a brand new ink cartridge for my Epson 3880 printer. The cartridge failed to work right out of the box, which, from my scanning of the internet, appears to be a not uncommon problem.
I called Epson for support. They were quite confrontational and ultimately connected me to a supervisor, Carl Rommel M, who requested some additional information and promised to call me back the next morning. I never heard another thing from him and that was days ago. I tried calling Epson again and after being left on hold for a total of almost 30 minutes, I just gave up.
If you do any high-end photo printing, stick with Canon. I have always had good luck with them.
- If you can get the printer to work
- Printed photos look good
- Terrible customer service
- Defective ink cartridge
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Avoid buying Epson photo printers! Stick with Canon instead
Firmware update cost me $125 to fix
A recent firmware update for my printer rendered the nearly new ink cartridges unusable. The printer just stopped recognizing them, even though they are genuine Epson ink cartridges. On escalating this through their corporate office and with the BBB, they claim this is not their fault and I need to just eat the $125 to purchase another set of new ink cartridges.
User's recommendation: If you buy Epson printers, do not update their firmware - if it breaks your device, they will not make it right
Problem wasn’t solved! Frustrated!!
I didnt get my problem solved. I have called 3 times.
The first rep, Alma did well, but when I tried to print after we ended the call. I still couldnt! I called again today and spoke with Bree and she had a lisp and I had to keep asking her to repeat and then she hung up on me. The last person, Tin was very helpful, but then she asked me what application I was using and I didnt know what she meant.
If she would have said Safari or Chrome, I would have been able to answer her. My printer still is not able to print off my iMac and I am still frustrated.
If someone would call me I would appreciate it.
I need to print things for my tax return and this is ridiculous!
If I call again, I fear that the printer still wont work! Thank you, Cassandra McElroy 714-422-****

You don’t have a loss. You have the solution your warranty promised and your refusal of it’s terms.
The warranty you obviously did not read before making your purchase.
So now you have nothing. But you do not have a loss.
Mr or Ms “Guest” Although my negative comment was MY EXPERIENCE in part about the warranty, the emphasis was on the fact that the CUSTOMER SERVICE was horrible. When people respond anonymously to a negative review like you have, it’s difficult to assess the credibility of your response.
And you clearly either work at Epson or have family there because of your response. When a company has great staff and customer service, they can solve ANY issue with professionalism. Their staff lacks professionalism, not all but some. One, took it upon herself to read part of the warranty…but when I asked her to explain what she read, looks like she didn’t understand it either and got RUDE!
That is NOT acceptable in customer service because I was never rude to any of them. In terms of READING the warranty before you buy…the warranty is in the BOX! You could also check the warranty of your Epson printer, using the Warranty Verification tool on their website, but you NEED the printer's serial number available to enter into the tool! (So, you need to buy it!!) Alternatively, you can contact Epson Support directly to verify your warranty but they will ask for the Serial Number!
Not easy unless you purchase the printer. Bottom line, Customer service needs resolve issues not cause them!
And people who want to comment on someone’s negative review shouldn’t hide behind the anonymity of their post….grow a backbone! One more thing, don’t even waste time replying, because I have better things to do.
Beki or Guest or whatever name, all are equally non-identifying. I do not nor do I know anyone affiliated with Epson.
This site gets 3+ million visitors a month. Anyone can comment. The bottom line is the warranty. And no, you are wrong.
You need the serial number to REGISTER your product/warranty. Not to read it. It can be accessed online PRIOR to your purchase. Typical jump first ask questions later behavior.
You take issue with the warranty and are trying to make a CSR’s perceived rudeness an issue. That doesn’t change your warranty.
It just adds another false entry on your irresponsible list of grievances you cause yourself. #lightweight
The supervisor should not have to read and explain anything to you. YOU are supposed to before you make the decision to purchase.
If there are terms you don’t like. Don’t purchase.
