Epson - Worst Printer Ever

1.0
Details
I purchased an Epson WF-3640 All-In-One a few years ago and have had nothing but problems with printing. It leaves dark lines, blank areas, no color in areas. I have used Epson inks only, I constantly clean print heads, realign them and have replaced them, it is still the same problem. It is a problem Epson knew about before selling this printer, and they have made no attempt to fix the faulty ink and print heads. I used to always use Epson as they never broke down and had the best printing only. I just bought an HP color laser jet and it works better than the Epson ever did or will. Epson can put their printers where the sun doesn't shine.

User's recommendation: Never buy Epson printers.

Epson - Do not buy one of these
Printer will not print a complete page without several lines completely blurred. I have cleaned the heads 6 times now, I have aligned the vertical head, I have aligned the horizontal head. That is all the maintenance it gives you to check. Here is one page, they all mess up in the same place. Total waste of money. Bought it so when I needed a printer I would have one, I need a printer and it does not work!

Printer demands that I am continuously purchase THEIR Epson ink cartridges. It seems that I am forced to purchase an ink cartridge every month--either black or one of the colors. I rarely print in color so the ink cartridge must dry out - unless Epson manufactures the cartridges to "read" empty. I have a brand new, XL Black cartridge and this printer will not print (because {Y} is reportedly out of ink), even though I state B&W printing. Throwing this piece of *** away.

Epson - WF 3640

I hadn't used my printer for a while and when I did it said I needed to replace the yellow cartridge, I did, just like I have in the past. After the installation process was complete an error code 0x97 appeared. I tried the powering down and up steps, removing the cartridge step and also cleaning the printer heads. All this did nothing. I then decided to look for my receipt and lo and behold the warranty expired 3 days ago. The printer I now have was a new one I received when the original was taken in for guess what, error code 0x97. That happened two years after the original purchase and this one failed also after two years receiving the replacement. If I get another I will happily take it, if not, I will probably go with HP. My lady friend has a HP and that has been working relatively trouble free for almost nine years.

Epson - Will not copy

I have an Epson WF-3640 that I have used sparely for one year. Now it shows paper jam when there is NO paper jam and will not copy. Nothing will correct this problem, however it will print from the WEB fine. This seems to be a common problem with these printers but there is no software update that I can find. Since it is not of much use to me without the copy feature it will be going into the land fill shortly. My advice is don't buy this printer, the ink is expensive and has this major problem. I don't see the reason to have at least 100 words on this site in order to post a review!!

Absolute junk - the most finicky thing I ever had. Just look at it the wrong way and it acts up. Don't buy it! I bought it as a spare to my HP Laser jet which is a workhorse. I wanted something that offered color and could scan, copy, etc.... So, I knew that this printer would be an "occasional use" printer. I have had nothing but trouble, there is always something wrong, something jammed, something to look at. Not to mention the small ink vials. So, I needed it....I go to the store and buy $66.00 worth of ink, because I really needed to use it and BINGO - poor quality printing - even after cleaning the heads and printing test pages. Really, take a tip from me, stay away from Epson printers, there is no good news to report about them.

Sorry Epson. I also do not want to use "wine" to try and run your printers.

Open Source your drivers and let programers write Linux applications for you.

Brother also supports Linux for quite a few of their printers.

Also Brother has printers that use the HP print definitions( for the 'HP Only' applications).

Epson - Workforce 3640 is horrible

Hi, We purchased 4 3640's for the office. All of them have broken after a short period but after the return time frame. So much for Leo's advice on the workforce...... We will not ever (ever) buy another one. After a while the print lines start breaking up. so then it's a loop of changing to a new cartridge and still no sucess. Then most of the cartridges will work however one won't. More than likely it shows as being full and ready to go. Beware the trap of trying to fix it. Save time energy and frustration by unceremoniously throwing it in the trash, go down to the store and buy a different brand.
