Bought an epson 2860 6 months ago. Been using 3rd party ink the whole time.
Downloaded new firmware. No longer recognizes that ink. Called epson and ended up at an India call center. Couldn't understand the dialect.
Eventually talked to a tech. the next day. Not intelligible either. Gave up on the call and got recalled by her supervisor.
Told him that the software update killed my printer and wanted the old version. He said they were unable to do that. While there are several hacks on the internet, they have apparently shut down all access to the old software. I will not pay double for ink.
Two times doing that will pay for a new printer.
Apparently epson is breaking the law and when I accused the supervisor of such, he suddenly went silent. I am currently in the process of buying a new and more reliable printer.
Monetary Loss: $130.
