Epson Scam and Terrible Customer Service

I purchased and Epson WF-7620 in February 2016. Within the year the printer had failed. The ink nozzles failed which left lines through my images and discolored images. I called Epson, after over 3 hours of conversation they replaced the unit with a refurbished one. I was ok with the outcome, but then, that one failed ALSO! The ink nozzles FAILED AGAIN! I called back and they replaced that one too. At that point I was on my 3rd Epson WF-7620 in a year and a half. It is now June 2018 and my 3rd printer FAILED AGAIN!!! Same issue, the ink nozzles failed. This time they REFUSE to REPLACE the unit, saying "I was on borrowed time with the last one and they should not have replaced it". I don't know anyone who wants a customer service agent to tell the consumer the "you're on borrowed time". Not only did they supply me with 2 faulty units, but they wasted 3 hours of my days just to tell me that I was lucky to have the second unit replaced. I would understand if I broke it, used non-Epson ink, or somehow abused the unit, but that is not what happened! Epson sold me a faulty unit, knowing that it would fail and sent me two more, knowing those too would fail and refuses to replace it. Their warranty does not apply to the unit you have, but only to the first year of purchase, If your product fails in that first year, they will send you a "refurbished" model and not guarantee that it will last. This is a SCAM!!! If Epson had any faith in their products, they would warranty the actual product. It's absolutely criminal to sell products knowing they will break and I highly recommend that any consumer NOT to PURCHASE Epson. It's a scam. Also, if you are one of those suckers that falls into their trap be prepared to be bullied and not to have any of your issues taken seriously. I don't know if Epson is just cheap and the people they employee in customer relations are unhappy, bit they are rude and refuse to escalate because their supervisors "don't talk to people like you". I could go on and on. If anyone else has had a similar experience, please write reviews.

Ink Refill Scam

Epson printers XP640 are rigged to also use the color ink and photo ink cartridges when you are only printed in black to deplete and scam you into paying over $50 to replace the color ink cartridges and photo cartridges that you did not use or need. Which I will not do. I am not the only one to fall for the ink refill scam by Epson the internet is full of people who got scammed by Epson. I will not spend over $50 for ink I did not use or will not use. I am out the cost of a printer that is only 14 month old printer plus the cost of a spare black ink cartridge. I will save my money and purchase a printer from a reputable manufacture.

Customer Service

I'm so sick of dealing with customer service in another country, where they have no idea what they are talking about, if you can even understand them. I've always been an Epson customer, but no longer will I ever purchase a printer from them again. They use to put the ink cartridges on sale, but haven't for over a year. When called and asked, they right out said they will never sale price the ink cartridges. If you can even find your ink cartridge at Staples or Office Depot, it can NOT be included in any sales within those stores as stated by sales associate. I've purchased a wide format printer and the cartridges are $32/ea which is ridiculous. I thought they would at least put them on sale occasionally, like they use to do, so I can afford to replace them without it costing me as much as the printer.

Printers not working

I bought an Epson 47??. After just a short time print nozzles failed. Print head cleaning function did nothing. Costco, thank God, took it back. Got the newer model that had just arrived. Neither document feeder nor print paper feeder worked no matter what grade and quality of paper I tried. Spent 2 hours on the phone with Epson only to be told what I know from the beginning: Hardware failure right out of the box! Costco to the rescue. Bought the new Ecotank 37??. Set it up, does not feed paper for scanning or copying purposes no matter what I try. Okay, so I am apparently stupid and insane for trying the same brand 3 times. Never had an issue with any of my HP's. Lesson learned but Epson should get out of the printer business! They obviously have no clue what they are doing!

Hard to believe three different printers conspired to frustrate your printing career. Perhaps it's your computer or the settings, etc.? Go back to HP if you wish, Epson will survive.

Hardly. Epson's own personnel diagnosed the issues as hardware failure, to use their term and I spent quite a bit of time with them on the phone as I don't have the time to run to Costco all the time.

Furthermore, if a printer/scanner pulls in or spits out 4 pages and more of any type paper, 20#, 24#, from different vendors right out of the box, it would be hard to blame settings or the paper either. I used Epson years ago with good results but today's machines are just flimsy and shoddily put together.

Epson out of ink message should be illegal

I have a WorkForce Pro WF-4630. I buy new cartridges versus refilling. Regardless of the kind of cartridge, I use the Black Cartridge the most so it is always the first to go out. What is blatantly wrong is Epson's measuring of these cartridges and it is downright deceptive and I believe an attempt to get consumers to replace them long before they are empty. My "out of ink" message started 3 months ago and about 1,000 pages ago. I don't keep a perfect account but I'm a college professor and it's been busy. The cartridge is still printing black and the message has displayed this whole time. I can't figure out how to display it but I will say thing. This will be the last ESPON I buy.

Nice printer. You have stumbled on the reason for the low ink message---they make more money selling you the ink cartridges than they do the printer. Not believing any manufacturer's low ink message is now a part of every printer-owners belief system.

Despicable.

Like many others, I installed the firmware update and no longer am able to use my Epson printer. Even after removing the third-party ink and inserting the unused Epson ink, the printer won't recognize it and additionally, it will no longer connect wirelessly. Hey Epson, How would you like it if your car suddenly stopped, leaving you stranded on the side of the road because the manufacturer suddenly made it so your car would only work with their $7/gal proprietary gasoline? That's basically what you just did to the 1000's and 1000's of your customers who were nice enough to purchase one of your products. I will NEVER purchase another Epson product and I hope all of the customers who you just screwed will follow suit and you go out of business.

Epson has the worst products out of all the companies that manufacture products in the same category. DO NOT buy anything from them. unreliable, very expensive, hustles you for ink (most expensive on the market) and it gets worst when you call customer service, They have the worst customer service. printer will not print black unless you replace color cartriges. and customer service will tell you when you print black it uses other colors. ( Does not make sense to a kid) will never buy anything from them again. If there is a star review on this company's products i would not even give them one star. Would give it minus 50 stars. This company is a big ripoff. Started using samsung and never a problem, ink lasts for ever and it is a way less expensive.

Same problem.. owned several epsons in the past. Never again. Permanent damage to epson reputation. Feel tricked into the firmware update. Hope the class action is successful.

Awful Product and NO Customer Service

After 3 months my WP4740 stopped working. They said they would replace it (with a USED model!) but didn't even do this. Told me their courier couldn't find us. We had a missed delivery card so knew this was a lie. When we challenged this lie they got even more unhelpful.Chased MANY times but was ignored. The replacement was then recalled by Epson and we were told it was out of stock. We had tracked it back to the depot using the courier's tracker so this was untrue.Their service manager laughed down the phone and couldn't care less. Made commitments to resolve but this was just another lie. Avoid all Epson products like the plague. They are useless and you will get no assistance whatsoever. Total rip off

I learned the hard way to never update firmware on printers for the very reason you describe. If your printer will handle generic cartridges, remember the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
