Check Customer Support BEFORE. you buy an Epson!

A few days ago, I decided to buy an Epson ET-3760 printer, with the "latest technology" in terms of large ink supply. Because this printer is really a computer, it is a complex piece of gear. But the only instructions included were on a folded sheet of paper. The printer's complexity is evidenced by the 238-page manual that I found online. Although I found it there, I couldn't find one in the printer's box! I even naively called up Epson and asked for a printed manual. I offered to pay for a printed copy, but neither the sales tech nor the supervisor were able to help me out. What a travesty of customer non-service. Setting up the scanning function, for example, is not as simple as it appears. Having a manual to check would be a real help, I just couldn't believe that a so-called Japanese product would sink this low in terms of customer service. Highly disappointing. I hope the Customer Service Reps are volunteers, because if they are getting paid, then Epson is wasting their money. Life is about choices, and I choose to have a Plan B when it comes to learning technological information. Epson does not support this choice. Thanks Epson for nothing. I will remember this incident when it comes to either my next printer or another Epson product. The products may be good, but Epson America's customer non-service really sucks.

Beware-warranty =refurbished junk product not new

Update by user Mar 17, 2020

Per your request to find out if Epson reached out to me. The answer is NO.

Epson does not care and did not reach out to me in any fashion. Once they get $400.00 from you for a supposed state of the art printer they wash their hands of you. The "print preview" remains fuzzy and illegible. The ENTIRE purpose of print preview is to REVIEW what you will be printing to make sure it is accurate so you won't be wasting ink or paper by printing something with an error.

Epson has known about this problem for several years but has chosen to saddle customers with an expensive inferior product. Check out past complaints on printers of many different model numbers, and you will see this is an ongoing problem for several years. ERGO EPSON DOES NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!

The premise that I would accept a REFURBISHED printer in place of a new one is idiotic!!!!!! Again, I warn consumers, DO NOT BUY AN EPSON PRINTER IF THE PRINT PREVIEW FUNCTION IS ONE YOU NEED.

Original review posted by user Feb 16, 2020
Epson ET-4750 printer: the "print preview" function shows a grainy illegible document. I called for help, but the tech Hazel was an idiot. She had me go thru a litany of tests that had absolutely NOTHING to do with print preview function. I believed that my brand new $400 printer was defective. She finally - after almost an hour- agreed with me. Even tho we NEVER once got to the point in her investigation of actually going thru the process of printing a page. (She is an idiot) She was further not being honest and telling me they would send a REFURBISHED printer for my 40 day old brand new printer. I told her I did not want them to ship a printer, I wanted credit so I could go pick up another new one right away from the office supply store. FINALLY she admitted after dancing all around it for 10 minutes, she did admit I could only get a refurbished printer, but sadly for me, they had no ET-4750 refurbished printers at this time so I would have to wait or pick another style. WHAT THE H***? Asked for a super, got Thalia in "corporate" the good thing was, she did speak English in a manner that was understandable. She too, tried to evade and dismiss the fact that Epson's corporate policy was to ship a piece of c*** used printer in place of a brand new one that is defective. I asked her "why on earth would I accept junk in place of the $400 printer I just purchased". I thought I did my research before buying this printer and looked at as much information as I could stomach. I did not discover until now, that the "print preview" is NOT defective, it is an old issue that customers have complained about from as far back than 2005. You would think that in 15 years, Epson would employ techs smart enough to fix this function. Epson is well aware of the complaints but feels no need to address or fix the issue. Even the cheapest junky printers on the market have a functional "print preview" that serves the purpose as it was intended-shows you and exact clear, legible example of exactly what your document will look like when you hit "print". Epson does not feel like their customers deserve this feature. So if you are considering an Epson printer, and print preview function is important to you, DO NOT BUY AN EPSON PRINTER.

Resolved: THINK TWICE

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

It is NOT resolved --- it is a waste of time..How the *** does this damn thing close and be sent in to you..??? I can not see any way to send this back... I am going to try and see if this damn thing can be closed out now...

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

wasting my time here...this system is out in left field...

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

I still say your questions are asinine...I have a simple problem with lousy EPSON limiting and controlling the INKS I buy and use...who the *** are they to say what INK I can buy...??What other company did I look at to buy a printer from..I bought a printer from SAMS ...Who the *** needs to know if I had looked at another from someone else..?? Worthless question...Get real...Ask Questions about the the MACHINE...not about who I bought it from...ask questions about what my problem with EPSON is ...NOT what ever you ask - ALL of it was totally worthless and had NOTHING to do with my situation... I would be happy with a refund - so I could take my EPSON outside and run over with my tractor and bury it..

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

Hmmm...just thought ..IT IS MY MACHINE.. I bought it - I paid for it..Where the *** does EPSON get off restricting what damn ink I want to use in it...?!

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

What are the cons of using this company....WTF does that mean... I am talking about the friggin EPSON Company...that produced the printer I bought at SAMS..The questions asked are plain stupid.

The seller has not a damn thing to do with this situation..EPSON does....and ONLY EPSON.....

They are the *** that are controlling the inks and use of their damn machine by not allowing it to use any damn ink I want to,,,,THEY and THEY ALONE are the problem here..not the seller.... Lets get this straight...EPSON SUCKS...NOT SAMS

Update by user Mar 12, 2020

This system sucks..You are asking meaningless questions..and I get a dumb assed comment about SPECIAL crap....Fix this damn system -- or fold it up....

Original review posted by user Feb 10, 2020
Bought a new printer...EPSON Wf-2860.. Used up the crap ink supplied fast.. Replaced with refilled ink.. Darn machine would not accept the new ink. Replaced with the ink that was left from the supplied new ink. Machine would not accept them. Lost a damn day...Lost the 70 bucks I spent on the refills... EPSON sucks not allowing an owner to use whatever ink he wants to... Then there is the problem of re-inserting the factory inks..the machine will not accept the ori8ginal ink cartridges back. STINKS..Never again will I buy an EPSON...

Epson Ink is just too Expensive for printing projects on a daily basis! Come on Epson!...give me and others a break on the cost of your ink cartridges....The average retired and disabled person on fixed income cannot afford Epson Ink...and your regular capacity cartridges is a short-lived pricey event....lower Epson Ink Cartridges price so we can afford Epson quality at an affordable price....please...

Printers are cheap to purchase but can get expensive to use on a regular basis due to the high cost of the ink cartridges. This applies to ALL printer manufacturers, not just Epson.

Years ago I could refill the cartridges by buying the ink in an 8 oz. or so bottle and refilling them with a syringe. No more. They have re-designed the cartridges to preclude this operation.

You might consider buying a laser printer if all you use is black ink. The initial cost of the cartridge is higher than an inkjet but they tend to last alot longer than the normal inkjet printers.

Terrible Service - DO not use

Bought a Printer a month ago, and it does not print color. Ordered online, however there is no assistance with returns. After speaking to someone telephonically, they said I must go to an Epson service centre which I can search for on the website. Arrive at this centre, and they are unable to assist as I did not buy the product at that store?? A brand new product that is defective, and to return it seems impossible! Will never buy an Epson product due to this unhelpful and terrible service received!

Don't buy this thing

I have used this printer sparingly. Each time I turn it on it needs new ink or there's some other problem where it won't print. I bought a new black cartridge and it immediately said that it was at half capacity when I installed it. The next day the printer said that the black ink was low despite me not printing anything because the printer would work. This thing is a piece of junk!

DO NOT BUY AN EPSON PRINTER

The worst printer, customer service and corporate staff. I have purchase not one but two Epson Printers and have had the same experience. I feel like a fool that I bought another one only to have similar issues and more importantly no satisfaction from the customer support or corporate. I just bought ink to only find this piece of junk cannot be fixed unless I pay for it. This is absurd that a billion dollar company from Japan does not stand by their products. I will do whatever I can to tell anyone and everyone I know to never buy an Epson. They left me no choice since they do not care about the consumer.

Buy a Brother

First, the older Epsons were great. But mine died. But the newer Epsons are a pain. If you don't buy a WF 4740 or better, you can't do double sided scanning. You have to scan side 1, name it, (that in itself is a pain), then scan side 2, and name it. Two different documents. They don't say squat about this on the box anywhere. You gotta buy it, set it up, use it, then hope the store will take it back. My suggestion...buy a Brother.

Either don't EVER accept a firmware update, or don't purchase from Epson

I'm one of the lucky ones that got completely screwed with the new firmware update. $100 worth of ink, (all 4 colors, I might add, INCL the XXL blk cartridge, all for $100), is now completely useless to me. I bought your printer Epson, as well as thousands of other consumers. How dare you force me to purchase your OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED ink? What right do you have to dictate what I use in my machine??? I bought the printer, it's now mine, I should have the freedom to use whatever ink I want to, in it. And should it not work correctly, then that's technically MY problem, isn't it? Fix the problem Epson, or you're going to have a real revolt on your hands.

Printer was working normally. Epson sent me a firmware update. After the update from Epson the printer no longer recognized the ink in my printer. This caused the printer/scanner/fax to stop working. Epson ruined my printer WF 3720. No way to downgrade. Support could not help.Their response was because I was using 3rd party ink and till I buy Epson ink the printer will no longer work. THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO BUY EPSON INK This practice is the equivalent to "ransomware" where you are held captive till you pay up.

WF 7720 Worst Printer I have ever owned

1. Failed to perform advertised capability to print on thick paper. 2. Paper jams incessantly and for the following reasons: Inside the printer, as the paper feeds, as the paper is ejected, as the paper is fed through the ADF and in the rear paper feed. 3. These are the paper types that jam:These paper types: ink plain, photo, thick, letterhead, copy, multipurpose, bright white, at weights of 16, 18, 24, 32 (will not feed at all). 4. Print quality is poor and in consistent in alignment and the heads require cleaning on a weekly basis 5. Kicks itself off the wireless settings and must be reset, repeatedly 6. Slower than advertised and makes a screeching sound as the paper feeds through. 7. Defective from day one. 8. Paper trays do not firmly click into the proper guides for letter size paper. I must reload often. Epson service advises: use only Epson paper. Only Epson ink. I do. It does not help. And it strains credulity that Epson paper is recommended as a solution? It's just paper. If only Epson can be used, put that prominently on all of your advertisements!

Can’t even trick these new ones at least this effort 2850. Got a chip and can’t find a chip resettled for this model. Really tired of getting ripped off by these greedy ***
